ESSAY

Throughout life, it is always worth challenging something unique and new. While all artists identify their styles from the diverse co-existence of old and new aesthetics, including that of the present, we are not living in an age that requires genius, but rather of one that incorporates the values throughout time.

Together these performances find value in the existence of diversity. Soon enough, however, this will be established as the general normality.

Before that time, for example in music, I would rather be a master performer playing a good classics like Sarasate's Zigeunerweisen than a frontier in pursuing a new aesthetics.

이 세상에 유일한 혹은 초유의 시도란 것은 여전히 인생을 걸고 도전해볼 가치가 있는 것이지만, 이미 불세출의(unique) 천재를 요구하지 않는 이 시대는 현재를 포함 지나간 시대의 모든 미학들이 공존하고 있으며 그 가운데 각자 아티스트들의 퍼포먼스는 다양함 속에서 그 존재의 가치를 찾는다.

언젠가 그 누군가에 의해 이 시대의 혼란으로부터 그 대표적 개념들을 엮어서 하나의 일반명사화 되는 미학으로 정립되겠지만.

그 시간이 오기 전에 나는 새로운 미학을 추구하는 도전자(frontier)이기보다, 음악으로 예를 들자면, Sarasate의 Zigeunerweisen같은 훌륭한 고전을 잘 연주하는 한 연주자이기를 자처하고자 한다.
